About Ламрим

The appendix is a synopsis of Je Tsongkhapa's book A Great Guide to the Stages of the Path of Awakening (Lamrim). Volume I. Preparatory part and stage of spiritual development of the lower personality. Translation from the Tibetan language by A. Kugevichus under the general editorship of A. Terentyev. Poetic translation of quotes and transcription of Tibetan names by M. Kozhevnikova.

When Atisha, the creator of the lam-rim, arrived in Tibet from India, he was asked for a complete and public presentation of the teachings in order to eliminate erroneous views, especially those arising from the apparent contradictions in the sutras and in the commentaries to them. Based on this request, he began to teach the teaching in the form that became known to the Tibetans as Lamrim.

Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Gelug school that transmits Atisha's Kadam teachings, created his masterpiece Lamrim: The Great Guide to the Stages of the Path of Awakening (Lamrim-chenmo), which contains approximately 1,000 pages and is based on primary sources.
