Terço Franciscano

The Franciscan rosary, also known as the Franciscan crown, is an object of devotion used by Franciscans and people who identify with the Franciscan charism. It is not an essential part of the original Franciscan habit, but it has become an important symbol, often worn hanging from the cord of the habit.
The Franciscan rosary usually includes the Tau, a cross-shaped symbol that represents salvation and conversion, and can be made of materials such as wood, usually imbuia, and have beads of different sizes. The accompanying cord, often with three knots, symbolizes the Franciscan vows of poverty, obedience and chastity.
