About SIG REBIMAR

Welcome to SIGREBIMAR, the Geographic Information System for the Marine Biodiversity Recovery Program! REBIMAR is an action developed by Associação MarBrasil, sponsored by Petrobras, through the Petrobras Socioenvironmental Program, and one of its objectives is the structuring of this Geographic Information System (GIS) of the shallow platform of the states of Paraná and São Paulo, area performance of the Project.
REBIMAR integrates in this APP the data obtained during previous editions of the project, such as marine bio and geodiversity, physical-oceanographic characteristics, and the key habitats for life stages of marine species worked by REBIMAR, such as the mere, the turtle- green, hammerhead shark and manta ray.

Another objective of REBIMAR that can be catapulted with the use of the application is the participatory monitoring of threatened marine species, which will integrate scuba divers, underwater hunters and amateur fishermen as important actors in the generation of basic scientific information for REBIMAR, making them strategic partners in conservation actions.

The strategy is to collect information and data for basic identification of species of interest, occurrence and geographical location, types of behavior, photographs, among others, to contribute to the expansion of the database of threatened species and large predators.

The SIG REBIMAR was developed to be an important accessory for these audiences, serving as a participatory monitoring tool. Photographs and data collected during dives or fishing can be sent directly to the Program's database, which will be shared with all users of the APP!

In this first version, resources such as Climate and Navigation Conditions (Windy technology) are already available, as well as maps of coastal Conservation Units in the states of Paraná and São Paulo. For divers, the appointment of the main diving hotspots in Paraná and São Paulo is ready to be consulted, being an invitation to get to know new dive sites up close yet unknown by many practitioners.

The consolidated funds of the shallow platform of the two states are also already included in the APP, and you can help to identify even more details! Gradually new thematic layers will be inserted in this database, as the field data are made available by the technical team of REBIMAR and its partners. Collaborate with the conservation of marine biodiversity!
