Molecules in three dimensions for secondary and high school with JSMol.
JSMol is a viewer for chemical structures in three dimensions.
JSMol is developed in JavaScript and is open source.
Examples of molecules are shown from:
- Polar and apolar molecular covalent substances.
- Crystalline structures of ionic, covalent, atomic and metallic networks.
- Polymers.
- Compounds of carbon chemistry grouped into functional groups in the form of a table and in the form of a gallery.
The APP is completed with:
- Some test exercises to recognize molecules in 3D.
- A presentation with an introduction to chemical bonding
- A study of the geometry and properties of simple molecular covalent molecules according to covalent bond theories:
- Lewis structure.
- Geometry according to the VSEPR model (VSEPR).
- Polarity.
- Type of hybrid orbitals involved.
- Bonds formed by overlapping orbitals.
- Most relevant type of intermolecular forces.
