The opening takbeer is when the worshiper says the word “God is great” out of respect for God Almighty when starting the prayer. He has every deficiency, and acknowledges that He alone - Glory be to Him - deserves these attributes.
The companion Abu Hurairah - may God be pleased with him - explained the number of takbeers that the Messenger - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - used to say in prayer. To the one who praises Him when he raises his back from bowing, then he says while standing: Our Lord, to You be praise, then he says takbeer when he sinks into prostration, then he says takbeer when he raises his head, then he says takbeer when he raises his head, then he does the same until he completes the entire prayer. And he says takbeer when he gets up from two digits after sitting, then Abu Hurairah says: I am like you in prayer to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace).
As for the companion Ibn Omar - may God be pleased with them - who was known for following the actions of the Prophet - may God’s prayers and peace be upon him - he narrated the following hadith: From bowing, he raised them likewise, and said: God listens to him who praises Him.
Takbeer in prayer has a special formula, which is; (God is great), and some people may replace the hamza in the word Akbar and Wawa; There is nothing wrong with that, and its takbeer is considered correct, and the takbeer of the opening prayer is considered one of the pillars of prayer and how it is Sunnah. The jurists agreed on the preference of bringing the opening takbeer in prayer coupled with the intention, and the opinions of the jurists varied in the ruling of providing the intention over the opening takbeer in prayer. So the Hanafis, Hanbalis, and some Malikis went to say that it is permissible to make the intention before the opening takbeer in prayer. His prayers are correct with the previous intention, and the Shafi’is went on to say that it is not permissible to advance the intention over the opening takbeer in prayer, and the intention must be compared to the opening takbeer, and the prayer is considered invalid if the person responsible delays the intention for the opening takbeer, that is, if he performs it after the opening takbeer; Because prayer is worship, and worship requires the intention in order for it to be acceptable and correct.[
