About ESD-TEA

In the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders there are multiple factors that increase the complexity of the process and the uncertainty in the professional who evaluates, both during the information collection process and in the final diagnostic conclusion.

The more complexity and uncertainty in the information available, the more insecure the evaluator will perceive in his reasoning process.

The objective of the Safety Scale in the Diagnosis of ASD is to help the assessor to increase its level of safety during the process of evaluation and diagnosis of a person suspected of having a diagnosis of ASD, trying to reduce the complexity of the information and the uncertainty during the diagnostic process.

The application accompanies the evaluator during his process of clinical reasoning in 3 moments: (1) when analyzing the amount of evidence he has collected for each diagnostic criterion (DSM-5), (2) analyzing the level of assurance that the person evaluated present an ASD obtaining an initial probability value and (3) obtaining a final probability value that the evaluated person presents an ASD based on the result that could be obtained by applying the ADOS-2 instrument.

The application obtains probability values applying the Bayes theorem.
