ABOUT THE 2023 TOURNAMENT
Espinho will be the stage for a sports and social event that promises to liven up the city between the 8th and 10th of September. This is the 2nd edition of the Street Football Tournament, an initiative by the Espinho City Council (CME) and the Popular Football Association of the Municipality of Espinho (AFPCE), which aims to promote access to sport and social inclusion through football.
The tournament will have the participation of more than 70 teams, made up of men and women of all ages, who will play in the fields of Bairro da Marinha de Silvalde, Bairro da Ponte de Anta and Parque Américo Magano in Paramos. . The main stage will be Praça do Mar, on the 9th and 10th of September, in the afternoon.
The Street Football project aims to integrate children who do not play sports in any club or community, offering them the opportunity to play in an inclusive and fun environment.
In addition to the main tournament, there will also be an adapted beach soccer tournament, aimed at the CERCI's in the district of Aveiro, which will bring together around 100 athletes. The tournament takes place on the 8th of September, between 9am and 1pm, on the fields of the Municipal Sports Arena, between the beach at Ruas 37 and 41.
The tournament also has the support of several personalities linked to football and Portuguese sport, such as Cândido Costa and Hélder Postiga, who were already present in the previous edition and who will return to Espinho to support the participants. Other national sports figures will also be present on the 9th and 10th of September, between 2pm and 7pm, at Praça da Mar, where there will also be performances by cultural groups from the county.
On the 9th, we will have the participation of the Escoteiros de Espinho, the Rusga de S. Pedro, the Rancho Folclórica dos Altos Céus and the Isabel Lourenço Ballet School. On the 10th, the Anta Scouts, the Espinho e Mar a Cantar Association, Rusga Nª Srª do Mar, MTV Dance Academy and Isabel Lourenço Ballet School will participate. At 3:15 pm on Sunday, we will have a special show by Lean Cruz. During the two days, we will also be able to appreciate the work of artisans: Herculano Alves, My Moyo and Fernando Moleiro.
The Street Football Tournament is an event that goes beyond the borders of Espinho and the districts of Aveiro and Porto, with the participation of teams from other regions, such as Guarda, Santarém and Bragança. The organization expects this to be an even more successful edition than the first, which involved around 30 teams and 70 athletes.
