We are a group of biologists, which in the last 10 years has generated information on the use of biological indicators to assess the quality of aquatic environments in Peru. This application is used to identify families of aquatic larvae of macro-invertebrates (“bioindicators”) through images. Each family shows different degrees of pollution tolerance, which is represented by scores. The sum of scores allows calculating the quality of rivers and lagoons, which will be transmitted in real time to a georeferenced virtual platform for public access. Following this intuitive procedure, users can quickly diagnose the quality of a body of water, generating relevant information for decision-making about its use and management. AQUABIOSMART will be validated through interaction with different social actors involved in environmental monitoring.
