In our research we deal with emotional processes that affect our modern eating more and more. Not only the hunger drives our food intake, but also the desire for self-gratification or the influence of negative emotions and stress. At the same time forces us an unrealistic beauty ideal to strict restraint. This results in frequent decision conflicts between long-term health goals (lose weight, healthy eating) and short-term pleasure.
In a recent EU-funded project is about using neurocognitive measurements in the laboratory, as well as practice-oriented surveys on smartphones to understand this decision conflicts better and treat. This research is aimed at people who hold common or diet can be often guided by emotions, frustration, stress or boredom eating. At the same time people with eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, Essanfallsstörung) or overweight / obesity are examined.
