Root Fiction is a digital era adaption of the old style 1980s adventure stories where the reader became the protagonist. Instead of flicking to another page - and trying not to cheat while doing so - here, you simply click on a button.
The reader app is released with one interactive novel - Zombies in Suburbia.
The story begins in Hounslow, London, UK where some strange events are about to unsettle our hero. We won't tell you the ending. In fact, we can't tell you because there's so many endings. Who knows what will happen to you?
We charge a small fee for the reader app for two reasons. Firstly, the text supporting the included story is around a hundred thousand words long. As you can imagine, this took up a huge amount of the author's time. Secondly, we want a 'clean' app without adverts. We will never introduce adverts to our apps.
We will also add one or two shorter stories later in 2022. These stories will be free. In fact, we don't have plans to charge for any future fiction.
We also hope to develop user generated stories. The software we use to develop stories is very complex at present. It needs to be far more user friendly before it can be made available for a wider release. However, we are distributing the software to select individuals. Please let us know if you are interested in writing a story and don't mind working with basic interfaces.
