RotulAPP is an application developed by a group of researchers from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), which will assist you in understanding the nutritional information present on food labels.
Today, in the midst of increasingly aggressive marketing, new options of almost incomprehensible labels appear and causing doubts when choosing the best option.
In face of this panorama, RotulAPP appears, with the introduction of models of frontal labels that aim to facilitate the perception and understanding of consumers and their impact on the decision to buy food.
HOW IT WORKS?
This is an application that covers labeled processed foods. When you find a product that you intend to buy, you can scan the barcode of the product with the application open on your smartphone and then you will receive a template of the front label at random and some questions pertinent to the study.
In case of an error in identifying the product, simply report it to the team in a button at the bottom of the screen. If you want to send a product that is not yet part of the study, the option to send it will also appear.
KEY FEATURES
- Consult food using the barcode scanner;
- Receive front labels or the control, at random, highlighting the high content of critical nutrients (added sugars, sodium or saturated fat) of the food in question;
- Also send more products to contribute to the study!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY?
- People over 18;
- Who have a smartphone and are a user of it;
- Be the person responsible for purchasing the house;
The registration of participants will be done through the application itself, which when downloading, will answer a socioeconomic questionnaire and provide the necessary data for registration. Then the use will be enabled, allowing the data intended with the study to also be collected.
