Giorgio Nicoli Institute helps people affected by polio and post-polio. Works by encouraging research, disseminating new treatments and facilitating the process of rehabilitation of patients with diseases of the Motor Neurone (DNM), especially those with Post-Polio (SPP).
Being an institute of social service, it has assistance character and its primary objective is to promote the guarantee of access to rights for patients of Polio and Post-Polio Syndrome through information and guidance as well as the search for alternatives for better quality life for these patients.
Specialties are offered by the Institute: Motor Physical Therapy; Aquatic physical therapy; Nutritional Guidelines; Psychology; Social Assistance and Medical various specialties for patients included in the rehabilitation program.
Access to rights and benefits, as well as adequate rehabilitation, will enable patients to be protagonists of their own history.
The service is done through scheduled interview, which is conducted a survey of all the patient's needs. After this interview, the patient will be referred for treatment in each specialty, and receive the proper guidelines to achieve social integration and work.
