Health practices, based on the humanized and integrality-focused model of the individual, which seek to stimulate natural mechanisms of disease prevention, health promotion and recovery through effective and safe technologies, with emphasis on welcoming listening, therapeutic link and in the integration of the human being with the environment and society.
Notes: i) Examples of PICS: acupuncture, aromatherapy, art therapy, homeopathy, phytotherapy, meditation, reiki, tai chi chuan, community therapy, floral therapy, thermalism, yoga, among others. ii) In the Unified Health System (SUS), PICS broaden the range of therapeutic options for health care and help users reduce drug use, increase self-esteem, and improve quality of life. (iii) They are also designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as traditional and complementary medicine (TCM).
