The Church commemorates on November 27 the Feast of Our Lady of Graces or the Miraculous Medal, the date on which the Our Lady appeared to Santa Catarina Labouré. The Blessed Virgin asked her to coin her image on a simple medal representing her maternal protection and explained to her the meaning of some of the symbols of this medal, which would be worn by millions of devotees worldwide: “These rays symbolize the thanks that I pour on those who ask them. ”
Our Lady of Graces is a special invocation by which the Blessed Virgin Mary is known, also invoked with the same intention under the name of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and Our Lady of All Graces. It precedes the Marian apparitions at La Salette, Lourdes and Fátima.
