This Application was elaborated as a final product of the Master's thesis in Education of the University of Pernambuco - UPE, Campus Mata Norte, entitled “Performance of the Student Guild in Democratic Management”, having as author Márcio Oliveira de Andrade and advisor Luiz Alberto Ribeiro Rodrigues.
The general objective is to analyze the student union's role in democratic management in a full-time school in Pernambuco.
As an action of the final product of the dissertation, we created this blog with the objective of describing the steps to establish the student union in other schools. The application developed is intended to multiply the contributions of the student union to democratic management. Thus we hope to contribute to the exercise of political activity, spreading and making the theme an action that should be discussed and worked by everyone in the school.
Which is?
The student union is the highest collegiate instance of student representation. Guarantees student participation in democratic school management, collaborating in the struggle to achieve the primary objective of the school, the provision of quality education. It is a non-profit organization whose objectives focus on civic, cultural, sports and social actions.
Why
The school is a privileged place for the construction of citizenship, leadership formation and the promotion of civic culture. Thus, the consolidation of the student body as a tool for strengthening the participation of students in school decisions, in a responsible and committed way, is not only based on the defense of student interests, but on the approach of the school community in the process of change. The great challenge of this collegiate instrument is to build the school as a public space, effectively, citizen, politicized and aware of duties and rights, so as to enable its representatives to participate in the pedagogical political project, cultural and leisure programs, educational policy, as well. also, school council and parent-teacher association and other organizations with a view to proposing alternatives for social transformation.
goal
The basis of this collegial action is to enable young people to recognize and exercise democratic political practice as a principle for the conquest and realization of rights, strengthening active participation in conflict solutions.
Potential
Student Guild has the potential to engage students, helping them to think about the school as a whole, developing their sense of belonging, commitment to collective principles, as well as reflection and positioning in the face of today's problems. In addition to contributing to political development, Grêmio also collaborates culturally and socially, because through it students can organize parties, championships and other events.
