Microcytic anemias are very common in clinical and laboratory practice, with iron deficiency anemia and minor thalassemia being the most prevalent. The diagnostic confirmation of these clinical entities, requires tests that involve the iron metabolism profile, hemoglobin electrophoresis and, in some cases, molecular tests. Despite their great utility, confirmatory tests for the differential diagnosis between iron deficiency anemia and minor thalassemia require methods that are time consuming and costly. In this context, the use of discriminating indices that use erythrogram parameters can provide a powerful additional tool for simplifying diagnosis between Iron Deficiency Anemia and Minor Thalassias.

It was after submitting a manuscript to a medical journal in September 2019, that an "insight" emerged for the creation of a calculator in the form of an App, which was developed in partnership with the Systems Analyst Adailton Pimentel Reis, developer and owner Space Code Fit, and then submitted for registration (patent) at the Federal University of Alagoas - UFAL, on 11/28/2019 and, on 11/28/2020, the Certificate of Registration of Computer program.
