What is the Public Prosecutor's Office?
The Public Ministry, according to art. 127, caput, of the Federal Constitution, is a permanent institution, essential to the jurisdictional function of the State, which is responsible for the defense of the legal system, the democratic regime and unavailable social and individual interests.
It is configured in Brazil as an autonomous and independent institution, which is not subordinated to the Executive, Legislative or Judicial Powers, which guarantees it conditions to more effectively supervise compliance with the law.
The purpose of its existence, as the constitutional text itself says, is to defend the legal order, the democratic regime and the unavoidable social and individual interests, that is, the defense function of society in the democratic regime established by the 1988 Constitution. its performance committed to the defense of citizenship and the dignity of the human person.
