About HabiApp

With this app you can quickly and easily record habitat trees (synonym: biotope trees) and their tree microhabitats in the forest.

The following properties are recorded per tree: diameter (cm), tree type, coordinates (CH coordinates), condition (living / dead), position (standing / lying) and pictures.
The user decides whether the tree should be recorded as a habitat tree or not (candidate).
In a second step, the tree microhabitats are recorded. The typology of the microhabitats is based on Larrieu et al. (2018) and is organized in three hierarchical levels (7 forms, 15 groups, 47 types). The registration can take place at any level.

The recorded trees and microhabitats can either be submitted via email (csv file) or synchronized directly with a server. The terms of use are regulated between the app user and server manager (canton, institution) (see terms of use).

The habitat trees can be recorded without an internet connection. If maps have been downloaded in advance, the map function can also be used.

In the list you can view the habitat trees and tree microhabitats you have recorded yourself.

This app is recommended by various Swiss cantons (e.g. VD, ZH, GR) for the survey of habitat trees.
