The municipality of Lausen belongs to the Liestal district in the canton of Baselland, located between Itingen and Liestal in the Ergolztal.

Lausen has excellent transport links. In addition to direct bus connections to Liestal and train connections towards Basel and Olten, the bypass road provides a direct connection to the higher-level national road network. Lausen is also linked to the region via various cycle routes.
