About WPA Posters

Works Progress Administration (WPA) posters were mainly created by the Arts Service Division of Federal Art Project, one of the divisions of Federal Project Number One which employed artists, musicians, actors and writers to provide federal cultural support.
According to the Library of Congress, the posters were designed to publicize exhibits, community activities, theatrical productions, and health and educational programs in seventeen states and the District of Columbia.
