"Danube on 2 wheels" means great places and beautiful people, adventure and fun, friendship and endless stories. Through this project, we come to the adventurous, outdoor amateur tourists with a rich offer of more than 3,600 kilometers through 60 cyclotourism trails, waiting to be discovered and recognized at their true value by natural and cultural heritage which the cross-border region holds in the Danube area.
In this mobile application, we meet about 60 cyclotourism routes for both beginners and experienced cyclists on both banks of the Danube: Constanta, Calarasi, Giurgiu, Teleorman, Olt, Dolj and Mehedinti (Romania) and the districts of Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Silistra and Dobrich (Bulgaria).
Here you can find maps and routes, and you will find information as detailed as possible about: the types of routes, their distances, their degrees of difficulty and the right equipment to take, to know what type of itinerary fits you best , taking into account your physical training.
The project was launched at the initiative of the AISSER Association in Călăraşi, which, together with its partners, aims to support an energetic lifestyle and promote cycling as a healthy and environmentally friendly way of spending leisure time.
Danube on 2 wheels, funded by the INTERREG Va Romania - Bulgaria Cross-Border Program, is a soul project made by young people passionate about nature and outdoor movement who have come up with a hand to create a unique touristic package through which will be organized cycling races for beginners, advanced, families and for people with disabilities.
This project meets the lovers of nature, amateur and professional cyclists who want to test their skills on two wheels in an unforgettable natural setting.
Through our bicycle adventures we want to promote the less-known areas of tourists, which, by their extremely rich and varied nature, have an invaluable value.

"Danube on 2 wheels" is an ambitious project: the landing of Romania and Bulgaria along the border of the Danube River on the international map of cycling.
For the adventurer, three new integrated bicycle products for asphalt, off-road and leisure expeditions have been created. In total, we will organize 12 pilot actions in the border area:
- 4 experimental adventure trips with asphalt bikes (trip duration: 3 days);
- 4 experimental adventure trips with off-road bikes (trip duration: 3 days);
- 2 experimental trips for families with children (trip duration: 3 days);
- 2 experimental tours for people with disabilities and their personal assistants (trip duration: 3 days).
