Istikharah in the Qur’an and Sunnah:
Istikhara in Arab speech means supplication, and the meaning of Istikhara of God is: I asked God to grant me success in the best things I intend. There have been texts that confirm its importance, encourage it, and accept it after it. Al-Sayyid Ibn Tawus Al-Hasani wrote a book called: Opening the Doors between People of Mind and the Lord of Lords, in which he explained the truth of Istikhara and mentioned some of the verses that indicate it, such as the Almighty’s saying: “And your Lord creates what He wills and chooses. They have no choice. Glory be to God, Most High above what He chooses.” “Rikun” (Al-Qasas/68 ) And his saying: “... to Allah belongs the matter, before and after...” (Al-Rum: 4).
Among the etiquette of Istikhara:
The person must be pure and facing the Qiblah
Istikharah is done between the two prayers
