Fasting is important in human life. Every religion allows fasting, as its rules are for purification of soul and mind. Fasting enhances the power of knowledge and attains the power of good thoughts. Narada Purana states that the importance of fasting is written as- There is no other pilgrimage like Ganga, no Guru like Mother, no deity like Lord Vishnu and no penance like fasting.
