Welcome to a bygone era, where the people in Rælingen municipality lived a quite different life. In this game, we take you back to the years around 1750, where you can see, hear and experience what it was like to live and work in the area some 250 years ago.
In these years, Rælingen went through a rapid development. The power and technology of water is spreading, and a lot of new industry is being built in the river Byåa that uses the power of water. Several mills and sawmills are set up, and timber is taken up on a large scale from the Island. People are moving in, and business is growing. It is simply the start of Rælingen municipality!
Today, only ruins remain in the area, but in this game you get the opportunity to experience a bit of the times that were. You can visit several of the areas, meet the people who lived there, and play cool little games that let you experience a typical job at the time.
The game has been developed to be part of history learning in the Rælingen schools. Along the way, there has been close dialogue with local historians so that everything will be historically correct. Buildings, clothes, the people, the jobs and the music are all recreated "as it once was".
In-game content:
- Visit five of the areas around Byåa; the mill, the homestead, the mill, the floating station and the dam plant
- Meet the local residents and learn more about Rælingen's history
- The game has real local music from 1750, and was recorded by musician Magne Askeland. He has used instruments that were typically used at the time
- The game has five mini-games, where you get to experience a bit of everyday working life in 1750
The game has been developed by Megapop AS, in direct collaboration with the Riksantikvaren, Rælingen municipality and local historian and musician.
