A journey through time into the world of gigantic reptiles of past oceans: From autumn 2019 to December 2020, the exhibition center LOKSCHUPPEN in Rosenheim will be the first stop to show the family exhibition "Dinosaurs of the Seas".
Marine reptiles are undoubtedly one of the most fascinating and mysterious creatures of the Earth's Middle Ages. On 1,500 m², the exhibition stages its primeval water world with around 200 top-class original fossils, skeletons, casts and impressive 1: 1 models of sea dinosaurs. The originals are u. a. from the Senckenberg Nature Museum Frankfurt and other renowned museums in Europe.
Habitat stagings with dinosaur models up to 12 meters in length present three-dimensional moments from a country before our time. Europe's largest digital and first real-time realized "palaeo aquarium" creates a lasting, tangible spatial experience on over 50 projected square meters. Both the 3D-animated "main actors" and the 1: 1 models of the original reptiles were developed on the basis of the latest scientific research results especially for the exhibition project of paleontologists.
More than 30 media stations and hands-ons invite people to participate and communicate scientific findings with the help of an emotionally playful approach that enables informal learning.
The family adventure exhibition is a highlight - not only for small and large dinosaur fans.
"Dinosaurs - Giants of the Seas" is not limited to a section of the Earth's Middle Ages, such as Jurassic or Cretaceous, but covers the entire Mesozoic and also provides views into the Erdneuzeit. Even looks beyond the water "edge" - for example in the form of a 1: 1 model of a spinosaur or original fossils of pterodactyls - underline this holistic approach. Geological aspects of earth development are treated as well as the major extinction events, which did not survive any of the primeval giants until today.
