The Chronology of Greek Typography or better, the length of engagement between the Greeks and the practice of Typographic Style, represents a unique case in the map of European Typography. On one side the Greeks grappled with typography, a time, and for four hundred years or so, there was no free Greek state and the other print Greek books in all Greek communities created in the West and in the East, such as the Mount Athos, Venice, Florence, Rome, Milan, Trieste, in Alcala, Spain, Paris, Basel, London, Vienna and Leipzig, in Moschopolis in Bucharest and Iasi, in Buda and Pest, Istanbul, Moscow and St Petersburg, and finally in Smyrna. The history of printing almost all the countries of West and East includes, necessarily, and a chapter on Greek typography, as an integral part of the time of national typography.
