Sufism (Arabic: tasawwuf تصوف, DMG Tasawwuf), Sufiya (Arabic صوفية sufiya, DMG ṣūfīya), outdated or even Sufism Sufism, referred to the 9th century, an ascetic fringe group. Sufism has since been used as a collective term for currents in Islam, the ascetic tendencies and a spiritual orientation shape, which is often referred to with the word mysticism. In the 12th century Sufi orders [1] formed from the wear and religio-political functions, including organization of popular piety and mission. Followers of Sufism is called a Sufi (Arabic صوفي, DMG Sufi) or Dervish (Persian درویش Darwish). At the latest with the organization in order is an identification of mysticism and Sufism problematic, since the former usually refers to a specific type of spirituality, the latter now but also to institutions.
