''Uncertain Awareness'' is an art-science collaboration between Arantza Pardo and Gareth Phoenix for Festival of the Mind 2020. Arantza approached Phoenix research about the browning of the Artic as a visible effect of Climate Change from the aim of opening new ways of interdisciplinary work between painting and technology. For this project she found inspiration on the emblematic Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch, composing two paintings: a visible one, an immersive large scale green Artic landscape; and a hidden one, the truth, which is revealed when the visitor puts any device with the Augmented Reality app close to the painting, then the screen uncovers the devastation of a browned landscape, showing how the beauty of our world disappears due to climate change.
