Adheptor is a mobile app to track the adherence to disease treatments and, particularly, Hepatitis C treatments, promoted by the FNETH (Federación Nacional de Enfermos y Trasplantados Hepáticos) and developed by Alteraid SL.
The main difference with other adherence apps is that Adheptor has been developed for patients by patients, since all the requirements has been taking from them and, currently, there is no adherence app in the market that fulfills all of these requirements. The goal of Adheptor is to demonstrate the engagement of Hepatitis C patients to new treatments and optimize their cost-efficiency.
The functionalities o Adheptor are:
- Avoid unintentional nonadherence due to forgetfulness
- Inform by email, in case of missed intake, to the stakeholders (doctors, relatives, patient) selected by the patient
- Comment any intake if necessary, by the stakeholders.
- Track missed and taken doses
- Provide complex medication instructions
- Store data into the cloud
- Multilingual (English, Spanish and easily add any new language)
Every patient has a treatment that can be edited by the doctor or the hospital pharmacist. A nickname is always used for privacy issues.
Once the patient is authenticated into Adheptor, the treatment is downloaded and several alerts are configured to remind intakes. For example, if at 10:00 am it is configured to take sofosbuvir, an alert comes up at 10:00 am to remind it. In order to confirm that the drug has been taken, the patient has to scan a QR code which is attached by the pills box. In case of scanning correctly the QR code before 10:30 am, the intake is considered OK and reported as a taken dose in the Historic screen, otherwise, at 10:31 am the intake is considered KO and reported as a missed dose in the Historic screen. This workflow is followed by the rest of intakes of the day. At the end of the day, a report of the Historic doses are sent by email. Any dose can be commented by any of the selected stakeholders (doctor, relatives, …), and all this information is uploaded to the cloud aaaida.
