Che Gong, also known as Marshal Che, was born in Wufu, Nanchang, Jiangxi Province. According to legend, Che Gong was a brave general in the late Southern Song Dynasty and was instrumental in putting down the rebellion in the south of the Yangtze River. He was named Grand Marshal by the emperor. He is a god in Taoism and Chinese folk beliefs. Che Gong is born on the second day of the first lunar month every year.
