In the rooms, which were the residence and studio of the painter Renzo Bongiovanni Radice, his works are exhibited in a permanent collection, along with period furnishings. Committed to the promotion of art and culture, it produces temporary exhibitions and meetings. It supports the activity of young people engaged in all the arts, including through the provision of scholarships.
Founded in 1991 by the will of Adolfo Pini (1920-1986), the Foundation that bears his name is based in Milan in the elegant late 19th century building in Corso Garibaldi 2. In addition to Adolfo Pini, a man of science and professor of physiology, here the painter Renzo Bongiovanni Radice (1899-1970), maternal uncle of Pini lived and studied, who was a key figure in the cultural education of his nephew, particularly guiding his interest in the arts.
By the will of Adolfo Pini, the Foundation is dedicated to the memory of his uncle, of whom he is the only heir, and has the following purposes: the promotion and enhancement of the work of the painter Renzo Bongiovanni Radice, through studies and exhibitions, and the support for young artists active in all the arts, through scholarships, training offers and other initiatives.
From its inception, the Foundation has incorporated this mandate into its Statute to which it also adds the promotion of the figure of Adolfo Pini who, alongside his scientific activity, was also a writer, composer and art lover, representing a perfect synthesis of culture scientific and humanistic.
The headquarters of the Foundation, on the first floor of the building in Corso Garibaldi, includes some rooms in which a wide selection of works by Renzo Bongiovanni Radice is permanently exhibited, as well as other paintings, furnishings and art objects from his collection which as a whole, the elegant and cultured atmosphere of an early twentieth century upper-class residence.
