Sahwi in language means forgetting or neglect. Prostration Sahwi in term, is prostration which is done at the end or after prayer, to cover up defects in prayer because of leaving something that was ordered or doing something that is forbidden accidentally
The laws of prostration Sahwi of the Ulama disagreed into two opinions, some said Mandatory and some said Sunnah.
In the Hadith which explains the prostration Sahwi often use the word command. Whereas the original legal order is mandatory. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam continued to do the Prostrations of the Sahwi when there was a reason, and none of the propositions showed that he had ever left him.
