The lactose traffic light app is a mobile tool for displaying lactose in food. The color coding is green for lactose-free foods, yellow for lactose-containing foods and red for lactose-containing foods. The program is intended to replace wearing in book form.

The app uses an internet-based database. The underlying database contains information on the lactose content of more than 10,000 foods, which are expanded at regular intervals. It is based on information from the Food Code, the University of Hohenheim, the National Library of the USDA and the manufacturers. However, the database may still contain errors or the manufacturers have changed the composition of the food. Therefore, the traffic light app can only serve as a guide. The information does not release you from checking your dishes for lactose levels.
