Sukumar Roy (30 October 18 - 10 September 1923) was a Bengali children's writer and pioneer of "nonsense rhyme" in Indian literature. He is simultaneously a writer, rhymer, children's writer, humorist, essayist, playwright and editor. He was the son of popular children's writer Upendrakishore Roychowdhury and his son Satyajit Ray, a famous Indian filmmaker. His books of poetry Abol Tabol, Galpa Ha-Ya-Ba-R-L, Collection of Stories Pagla Dashu, and Natak Chalachittachanchari are considered to be some of the best "nonsense" satirical children's literature of all time in world literature, only a handful of classical literature such as Alice in Wonderland.
