About Talking Tags
Turn your physical world into a talking library with Talking Tags.
Talking Tags is an accessibility tool designed to help blind and visually impaired users easily identify everyday objects using NFC technology. Simply scan an NFC tag, dictate a label using your voice, and the app will store it. The next time you scan the tag, your device will read the label back to you.
No more guessing what’s in that can, which bottle holds the shampoo, or which folder contains your tax documents. Just tap, speak, and remember.
Key Features:
• Voice-Powered Labeling: No need to type. Just press the microphone button, speak your description, and the app converts your voice to text automatically.
• Instant Identification: Scan any programmed tag to instantly see and hear its content (compatible with TalkBack and other screen readers).
• Seamless Read & Write: Easily toggle between "Read" mode to check tags and "Write" mode to create new labels.
• Tag Management: Scan a tag to edit its text or delete it completely to reuse the tag.
• Date Stamping: Automatically adds a timestamp to every tag so you know exactly when you labeled it.
• Multilingual Support: Supports voice recognition in dozens of languages—configure your preferred language in Settings.
How It Works:
1. Stick: Place an inexpensive NFC sticker/tag on an object (e.g., a food container, medicine box, or clothing tag).
2. Speak: Open Talking Tags, tap the "Write" button, and speak your description (e.g., "Tomato Soup, Expires Dec 2025").
3. Scan: Touch your phone to the tag to save the text.
4. Listen: Anytime you touch your phone to that tag afterwards, the app will display and announce the label.
Who Is This For? Talking Tags is built specifically for:
