'Ruined Masterplans' is the juxtaposition and performative exploration of two different urban spaces – Hamburg's HafenCity and Beirut's Central District. While both districts have been conceived, planned, and realized as glossy real estate projects since the 1990s, current crises reveal their inherent problems ever more clearly: Beirut's glittering new downtown has been severely destroyed by a massive explosion in August 2020, Hamburg's HafenCity lies fallow due to the Corona virus. As two artistic teams move through their local urban space, recording their affective response to each environment, two artistic urban walks emerge, which will, in a next step, be mixed and hybridized.
