The government has published the list of holidays for 2021. The list was released after cabinet approval. The Ministry of Public Administration released the list last Monday. Next year there will be 22 days of general and executive leave combined. Of these, 10 days fell on Friday and Saturday. The list was approved in the cabinet meeting on November 24. There will be 14 days of general holidays on National Day and important religious days of different communities. Among the general holidays, there are six weekly holidays (Friday and Saturday). Besides, there will be an eight-day executive order holiday on Bengali New Year and various important religious days. There are four weekly holidays in this holiday. Next year, government employees will have three days of optional leave for religious activities. For the celebration of Vaisabi, the main social festival of the small ethnic groups in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, two days (29 Chaitra and 2 Baishakh) have been given as optional leave for government employees. One of these is a weekly holiday. The order said that those offices whose schedules and leave are regulated by their own laws or those offices, agencies and institutions whose jobs have been declared as essential by the government will declare the leave in the public interest as per their own rules and regulations.
