The application automates the submission of occupational health data by employers to the National Institute for Occupational Health (NIOH) as legally required by the Department of Employment and Labour. All data submitted strictly adheres to the Protection of Personal Information Act.
As South Africa enters the Vigilance phase of our pandemic recovery there is a need for interventions at places of work that will assist in the reduction of transmission. In addition, urgent interventions are suggested to mitigate the economic repercussions inherent to a stop-start economy.
Aggregation of the South African workforce data as it pertains to the daily spectrum of the disease can help provide strategic insight to the NIOH and the Department of Health in order to appropriately direct interventions to prevent unnecessary business interruption with the help of a dedicated Occupational Health Surveillance System.
