PT Bakrie Metal Industries (BMI) started its Steel Pipe manufacturing business in 1959 under the name "Talang Tirta", which initially produced multi-function pipes. In 1984, BMI expanded its business into fabrication services focusing on corrugated steel and bridges.
In 1985 BMI entered the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) business which operates with the support of a steel fabrication facility in Sumuranja, Banten. Now, BMI is known as a producer of high-quality steel pipes (special oil and gas pipes and multi-function pipes) and is recognized throughout Indonesia as an EPC and fabrication expert.
