Bestmile's driver app and human driver protocol allows bidirectional communication between the Bestmile Platform and the Driver application, making it possible for the Platform to send instructions to drivers and to receive notifications of vehicle availability, ride acceptance, ride completion along with other telematics data.
The app has two modes that define/enable a particular experience depending on your operational configuration.
- Active mode: made for human-driven (someone is actively driving the vehicle), on-demand scenarios.
- Passive mode: made for "grooms", or "safety drivers" inside autonomous shuttles for instance. The app is designed to complement the safety driver experience, sharing with him Bestmile Platform's mission and information, providing a way to manage incidents (field logs) or fill in pre and post-operations checklists. All of this and more, independently from the level of sophistication of the autonomous vehicle.
