About Visual Disability Simulator
The Disability Simulator by Abled is an application allowing for those with standard vision to experience what those with visual disabilities see each day. Version 1.0 of Abled simulates eight different versions of colorblindness, and Abled 1.0 allows the user to see what color blindness would look like within internet pages, applications and photographs. Created as a tool for learning, Abled hopes to show those with standard vision that color blindness does not mean that a person is unable to see color, but that these persons experience color differently.
When using Abled, the user will be able to simulate the world with different visual disabilities through the camera. With access to internet browsing, Abled allows the user to see various websites in ways they may not have before, and allows the user to see how those with color blindness may find it difficult when distinguishing various colors utilized within the websites. In addition, Abled allows users to upload and take their own photographs and place these images into the vision simulator. Allowing the user to experience what a person who is color blind may see during day to day life.
