What is the Ramon Muntaner Institute?
The Ramon Muntaner Institute. The Fundació Privada dels Centers d’Estudis de Parla Catalana was set up in July 2003 and has its headquarters in Mas de la Coixa.
This entity is the result of an agreement between the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Coordinator of Catalan-speaking Study Centers, which represents the will of all the centers that are members of it. Its purpose is to disseminate and support cultural research and promotion projects at Catalan-speaking centers and institutes, entities mainly dedicated to the study of history, cultural and natural heritage and the social sciences and humanistic and cultural outreach at local and regional levels.
What we do?
The idea around which our projects and our activities revolve is to create a network between the Centers and Institutes of Studies and to publicize the important task that they carry out as cultural researchers and activators of a territory. The Institute is an instrument at the service of cultural research and promotion carried out by the centers and institutes of studies.
Main objectives:
• Facilitate communication and joint work between the Centers
• To foster the development of the different fields of study concerning the cultural, linguistic, social, economic and political reality of the Catalan-speaking territories.
• Promote and disseminate the activity of these entities not only using traditional methods, such as the preparation of a documentary fund, thanks to the donations that centers, study institutes and other entities are making, but also by enhancing the 'use of new technologies, with the creation of this virtual portal that will serve as a nexus between the centers, researchers and the scientific, academic and cultural community and as a showcase for the activities and projects of the centers
• Coordinate and subsidize research studies
• Encourage collaboration between creators and cultural agents
• Establish awards and support lines. These lines of aid will be implemented according to the needs of the centers and institutes of study
• Organize and participate in scientific meetings and other activities
