The narrative of NU's way of thinking was originally a small book entitled Nahdlatul Ulama's Guidelines for Thinking. The book was first collected and published in 1969 by the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII) Jember Branch. Then it was reissued by the Nahdlatul Ulama Scholars Gathering Forum (FOSSNU) East Java in 1992.
The booklet was written by Al-Maghfur Lah KH. Achmad Shiddiq when Nahdlatul Ulama was still a political organization. So in some ways it contains political elements in it. But the main points of his thoughts remain relevant.

The initial intention of publishing in this application format was solely as a form of love for Nahdlatul Ulama.
