The Integrated Waste Analysis, Survey, and Technological Options (Project IWASTO) aims to describe and assess the solid waste management (SWM) activities in communities that form part of the Manila Bay watershed. It also aims to set up appropriate waste utilization technologies to process biodegradable and plastic wastes in selected communities. Information regarding SWM such as waste characteristics and evadable facilities, including forecasted trends, will also be systematized and made available online. Project IWASTO is one of the component projects under the Integrated Mapping, Monitoring, Modelling, and Management System for Manila Bay and Linked Environments (IM4ManilaBay Program). It is funded by the Philippine Council for Industry. Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) and is being implemented by the UP Institute of Civil Engineering.
