In a few words: Chartres in lights
Due to the richness of its programming, its frequency and its duration, Chartres en lumière is the largest free event highlighting heritage through light.
Every evening from April to January, around twenty monuments spread out in the heart of the city of Chartres are dressed in light to take you on a journey into colorful magical worlds.
From nightfall at 1 a.m. (10:30 p.m. from October 30), the scenographies take over the facades of the monuments. As they turn in a loop, you never miss the start and can freely plan your route!
New illuminations are offered each year and new historical sites are regularly added to the program! In December, the largest illuminations take on the colors of Christmas. Enough to perpetuate the magic of the end of the year celebrations.
Chartres en lumière has also managed to impose itself in the hearts of Chartres and visitors (and perhaps yours?), impatient to see the city light up again in April.
