What is salutogenesis? It is common for people to visit the cardiologist to find out how their heart is doing. Parents take their children to the pediatrician to see if they are growing up correctly. Women visit the gynecologist regularly. We do a check-up with the general practitioner or family doctor. Go to the dermatologist periodically to check for spots on the skin or to improve our appearance. All of these movements seek health; not because you are sick, but as a way of preventing illness or improving your current health. This concept of seeking health and improving in the absence of a disease is called salutogenesis.
