Carnival in Oeteldonk is unique! Since the very beginning in 1882, our village has been playing its own game of the upside down world. The city of 's-Hertogenbosch becomes the village of Oeteldonk, all Oeteldonkers are 'farmers' and 'durskes' and all ranks and positions have disappeared. That is why the Oeteldonkers all look the same in a farmer's smock, which is elaborately decorated with frogs and the colors red-white-yellow, the colors of the Oeteldonk flag. The frogs refer to the fact that Oeteldonk is a dry place (donk) in a waterless swamp.
