The "Pediatric CPET Z-score" application was developed by the pediatric cardiology team at CHU Montpellier, France. The app makes it easy to calculate Z-scores for VO2max and soon for the many cardiopulmonary stress test parameters that are performed in clinical practice. The CPET Z score distills a multitude of clinical research parameters in a single accessible format. These Z scores are based on a large pediatric cohort aged 5 to 18 and including extreme weights (undernutrition, overweight and obesity).
Z-scores are a way to express how much higher (positive Z-score) or lower (negative Z-score) a value is than the average for a patient's height, weight, or age. A Z-score value <1.64 is abnormal, a Z-score value <-2 is pathological.
Healthcare professionals need access to normal ranges of parameters for cardiopulmonary stress testing at all ages and sizes, and cross-checking can be time consuming and inconvenient. The Pediatric CPET Z will prove invaluable to clinicians working directly in pediatric cardiology and those working in other areas of pediatrics.
The "Pediatric CPET Z-score" application allows users to access Z scores without the need for an Internet connection.
The application does not replace clinical judgment or institutional policies, so it should complement and not replace normal clinical decision-making procedures.
We hope you will enjoy using the "Pediatric CPET Z-score" application
