The sound of holograms, new technologies and the Neapolitan song
The SIRENA DIGITALE research project enhances and promotes the Neapolitan cultural, artistic and musical heritage.
DIGITAL SIREN is a holographic prototype of an interactive artist who, in the form of a hologram, interprets the repertoire of the classic Neapolitan song in multilingual versions.
Thanks to the song of the DIGITAL SIREN it is possible to listen to musical tracks and different interpretations of the classics of the Neapolitan song, proposed in the original language versions, in English and in Mandarin Chinese. The innovative presentation of the contents allows to enhance the artistic heritage of Campania.
In particular, through the digital technologies put in place (which allow a way of using artistic materials, presented as audio, video and in the form of hologram) Neapolitan artistic and cultural contents have been re-proposed, from antiquity to post-modernity, which they combine tradition and innovation, with particular attention to the myth and cult of the Parthenope Siren, in an iconographic reinterpretation that recalls the cinematic imagination, the worlds of Neapolitan and international art, culture and music. Through a vision - of images and sounds - contemporary, post-modern and futurist.
SIRENA DIGITALE is promoted by the Department of Social Sciences of the University of Naples Federico II and by the High Performance Computing and Networking Institute of the National Research Council, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, the RAI Campania production and with the MANN, as part of the REMIAM project - Intelligent High-multimedia Museums Networks of the DATABENC District, financed by the Campania Region.
The mission
The mission of the project is to identify new digital and interactive ways of promoting and international use of Neapolitan cultural, artistic and musical heritage. It is a repertoire of Neapolitan songs, among the most famous in the world, translated into English and Chinese, as well as in the original version.
Through the technologies of computer graphics and exploiting the illusory technique of the "Pepper's ghost", it is possible to seize new opportunities for tourism promotion and hospitality, setting up holographic performances in various contexts such as theaters, archaeological parks, airports, railway or maritime stations. In addition, with an App for smartphones and tablets, we intend to spread the message of the holographic siren on a large scale, using a small plastic pyramid as a means of projection.
The accessibility and User Experience of SIRENA DIGITALE have been tested to ensure an absolutely intuitive approach that has no age and / or nationality limits for use both in museum installation mode, with a haptic gestural interface (Totem Holographic), and in portable mode via App for mobile devices.
