The Hebrew Deputation of Social Assistance and Service, born as a Charitable Work of the Israelite University of Rome on 26.02.1885, is a civilly recognized Jewish institution, pursuant to Law no. 101 of 8.03.1989 with which the Agreements between the State and the Union of Italian Jewish Communities were ratified. Born from the merger of numerous brotherhoods and small organizations with very limited resources which, in the 300 years of imprisonment of the Jews in the ghetto, carried out an indispensable activity of moral and material support for people in need.
The Deputation offers its services in the territory of the Jewish Community of Rome and carries out its activity mainly in the capital, with the possibility of extension in the provincial or regional context.
It is daily engaged in the provision of family counseling services, analysis and treatment of social problems, psychological counseling for adults and adolescents, socio-psychological support and home care for elderly people alone, psycho-pedagogical support for children in difficulty and much more.
The Deputation, never betraying its original aspiration, is always close to families who live in conditions of difficulty and destitution: for each of them there is a total take-over plan, which on the one hand ensures families the satisfaction of primary needs and on the other hand prepares all the necessary actions to get out of the difficult condition.
